ETL FARO Results and Ranking

ETL FourOceans 09 Results                    ETL Tour Ranking After Faro

Antoine Delperro claims fratricidal Finale at Four Oceans ETL event #2 in Faro, Algarve.
FARO, November 8th 2009
In testing 2 ft wind-wrecked waves, 2009 I.S.A World Champ Antoine Delperro got the best out of his young sibling, Edouard, in their first ever man on man final.
40 log riders came back from all over Europe to beautiful Barrinhas beach in Faro for the third consecutive year that the Surf Clube de Faro and his dynamic representant, Manuel « Necas » Mestre, organized a European event.
Standouts of the events were French superstars Antoine Delperro and goofy footers Damien Castera and Remy Arauzo, combining radical moves to stylish noserides on the left handers, getting 8 of the 10 best heat results of the contest.
The biggest surprising upset happened in Round 4, seeing the early loss of U.K’s Ben Skinner, E.T.L 2007 Champion and winner of the starting event of the season in Vieux boucau in September, eventually losing his ticket to the man on man semis to Reunion Island Aurelien Meynieux.
In semi final number 2, Remy Arauzo, E.T.L 2008 Champion, lost by a narrow margin to Edouard Delperro and got his second 3rd place result of the 2009 season.
The 30 minutes final took place at lunch time, oposing french wunderkid Antoine Delperro to his gifted 4 years younger brother Edouard. The siblings were stoked to make the final together, and there was strictly no hasseling between the two happy brothers, just sharing waves and trying to get the best out of the difficult conditions, after surfing 3 rounds earlier in the morning.
Antoine got the best, longest waves and won this final with authority, scoring a solid 14.8 points out of possible 20, leaving his little brother alone outside in the dying minutes, not able to better his 11.5 points.
Young runner-up Edouard states : « I’m so stoked i got through all the way to the final, and sharing this with only my brother in the line-up, it’s just the icing on the cake, i couldn’t be happier ! »
« It’s a shame the waves were not better because this event would have been just perfect, joking at the line-up with my little brother during our first ever final heat, man, i’m over the moon !! » Antoine says « i couldn’t make it to the event in Vieux Boucau because i was stuck abroad for a photoshooting, so i’m really glad i can go back in the Title Run this season, i’m frothing to go to Morocco !!»
ETL 09 ranking number 2, Rémy Arauzo, is amped for the next 3 stars events in Morocco and Estoril : « Of course i’m a little disapointed by these consecutive 3rd place finishes, but i’m really confident for the rest of the season, i’ve just had a good result in Maldives for the W.L.T and my boards work perfectly, so i don’t see no reason not to perform my best in these two next events. I have my Title and there’s no way i’m gonna let it slip from my fingers. »
Next stop will be the following week end in Bouznika, 40 km South of Rabat, Morocco, on a perfect right pointbreak. Swell is on its way, the Tour is on !!!
On behalf of the European Surfing Federation, thanks to all the good people and staff at Surf Clube de Faro, Necas, all the sponsors and hands who helped to make this event possible. Getting better year after year !!
Muito Obrigado, vemo-nos no próximo ano !
Enjoy life and keep surfing
